The information presented in the dashboard is based on preliminary data from media reports and is subject to change. This data includes all on-farm fatalities and injuries reported in Australian media, excluding deaths resulting from natural and intentional causes.
It provides an early insight into on-farm incidents and their contributing factors before coronial records and Workers’ Compensation claims data becomes available.
The available data from media reports is coded using the Farm Injury Coding Framework, including both work and non-work related activities. Each incident is coded in relation to demographics, role in event (e.g. operator, bystander, passenger), work relatedness, relevant causal agents of injury (dams, tractors, grain augers, quads etc.), mechanism of injury, and other context specific information as applicable such as rollover/runover and commodity sector where known.
To learn more about the data and how to report on the dashboard, see the ‘explanatory notes’.
Key Features of the Dashboard:
- Live Data Updates: Track farm injury trends as they evolve.
- Customisable Reports: Filter data by date, type of injury, demographics and more.
- Regional Breakdown: View injury statistics by state or specific regions.
- Visual Infographics: Access charts and heatmaps for media use.
